Why should I donate?

The experience of recent years has shown that one million euros per year are needed to maintain Lübeck's Old Town Churches. These time-honoured churches are never "finished renovating".

This is not surprising, as the historic buildings have meanwhile endured centuries of northern German wind and weather. Even recent repairs and renovations are not for eternity. It is normal that after a few decades, once new material becomes tired and needs to be repaired.

There are no municipal grants from the Hanseatic City of Lübeck for the preservation of the listed Old Town Churches, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage. For this reason, the project "Seven Towers I Want to See" is dependant on donations as well as church taxes. However, church tax funds are just as urgently needed for many other important church, social, intercultural projects and local parish work (for example for children, young people, the elderly and people with disabilities).

The "Seven Towers I Want to See" project is non-profit. You will help the most with a regular amount of your choice, because, as described, the renovation of the Old Town Churches requires staying power. These regular donations can be changed or terminated at any time  without notice. Individual donations are also very welcome. Your donation is tax-deductible: you will receive a donation receipt on request.
